Is it time to rebel? And how do you do that? Learn from the best and come to Remember the Rebel Live show with Marie Lotte Hagen and Nydia van Voorthuizen from the well-known feminist podcast DAMN HONEY. They go full disclosure about their own rebellious actions, telling which rebels they admire and which rebels they find terrifying. They discuss with special guests how you can change society through rebellion. For example, Jerry Afriyie from Kick Out Zwarte Piet tells how his battle started and why it is far from over. There is also a live dance performance of Teddy's last ride from their taboo-breaking performance Goodbye_porn. There is no sitting back, Marie Lotte and Nydia also like to hear rebellious stories from the audience. Luckily there are drinks at the bar!

On Friday, February 23, Marie Lotte Hagen and Nydia van Voorthuizen from the well-known podcast DAMN HONEY will present a program about rebellion in the Stadsschouwburg in Nijmegen. A crazy Friday afternoon drink, on the occasion of the Remember the Rebel exhibition that can be seen in the Schouwburg from February 8 to March 3.

Every protest movement starts with that lone individual who sees through the status quo. While everyone thinks it is 'very normal', the rebel sees that things can be better.

DAMN HONEY discusses the importance of rebellion in these times, and talks to one of the rebels from the exhibition, Jerry Afriyie, about his fight against Zwarte Piet. How did he come to realize what almost no one did for years? There is also music by…

Later in the evening, at 11 p.m., Goodbye_porn from performing arts company Teddy's last ride will play. The performance is an interactive theatrical club experience about taboos surrounding sexuality and intimacy. Short dance scenes highlight sexual experiences, desires and shame: an exciting combination of party and theater in which the audience dances together with the four performers to self-written club beats. DAMN, HONEY is an accessible feminist platform, founded by Marie Lotte Hagen and Nydia van Voorthuizen. Their starting point: being able to do what you want. They convey that message in a weekly podcast, Instagram account and their books. Marie Lotte and Nydia also have a lot to learn and take people along in their own search for what (intersectional) feminism means to them.

About Remember the Rebel

Remember the Rebel is a traveling pop-up exhibition about rebellion that travels through Europe. The installation portrays illustrious rebels of the present and recent past from all over Europe. The rebels have been depicted by artist Mart Veldhuis in life-size portraits in which the visitor is always presented with two situations: the status quo that the rebel is fighting against, and the situation desired by the rebel. The visitor receives special glasses: if you look through a different lens, reality changes before your eyes.

Part of the installation is the game Rebel with a Cause, an Arcade Game in which visitors must defeat the Dominant Dictator as a rebel. The game, based on the classic WonderBoy, lets you experience which forces can threaten democracy and provides tools for critical thinking.
